The Satellite Telecommunication Centre
The Satellite Telecommunciation Centre of Pleumeur-Bodou (the C.T.S.), located in the Côtes-d’Armor, is the teleport that was responsible for the first television transmission via the "Telstar" satellite in 1962.

With the construction and commissioning of the Radome, Pleumeur-Bodou became world famous for having achieved the first intercontinental television link in the world, with Andover (Maine, USA), on the night of 10 to 11 July 1962.

The Space Telecommunications Centre was equipped with several huge parabolas until the 1990s, when it quickly ceased its activity.

It marked the history of world telecommunications, the technological and economic development of the Trégor region, and changed the hitherto rural society of Pleumeur-Bodou, and remains a landmark site in the landscape.

Bought from France-Télécom / Orange by the "Communauté d’Agglomération de Lannion-Trégor" (LTC) in 2006, the site was partially redeveloped to become a business area called "Pôle Phoenix". Some of the antennas were dismantled, such as PB6, the largest (32 m. diameter, 50 m. height, 350 tons) in 2006.

The site cannot be visited, but the giant dishes offer an astonishing spectacle, and some antennas can be approached, such as the "Symphony" antenna (PB5) located at the lowest point.

Some antennas have been converted to radio astronomy: the small PB8, located at the entrance to the site, is operated by the "Observation Radio Pleumeur-Bodou" association.

Finally, the adventure of satellite telecommunications can be discovered with the family through a visit to the Cité des télécoms, in the Park of the Radôme next to the Pôle Phoenix.
